Peroá - the typical fish of Espírito Santo!
Peroá (or Porquinho) is a fish found mainly on the coast of Espírito Santo, where we are located. There are those who say they are already on the verge of extinction. According to fishermen's reports, large-scale, industrial, predatory fishing has contributed to the disappearance of large schools. Others also claim that the explosions caused by oil exploration in our basin are one of the major factors in the flight of fish from the region.
It is, without a doubt, the fish most consumed by Espírito Santo. Its meat is white and juicy, which gives it a light and delicious flavor. Tasted mainly fried, it is a delicacy that cannot be missed in restaurants by the sea.
One way to make up for the lack of fish in the market is to buy from fishermen from other neighboring regions, such as the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, southern Bahia and even fishermen who venture to go to the Abrolhos Archipelago in search of fish.
